Mix IT Up! at Champaign-Urbana Pride

The fourth annual Champaign-Urbana Pride Festival, hosted by the UP Center, took place this past Saturday, September 14, at Lincoln Square Mall in Urbana. Mix IT Up! had a table at Pride Fest, where Mix IT Up! students provided information about other Mix IT Up! partner sites, including the Community Fab Lab and Teen Open Labs at Urbana Free Library. We also brought a bunch of books with LGBTQ content from the Center for Children’s Books to display and gave away a bunch of candy. But perhaps the most exciting was the Silhouette printer we borrowed from the Fab Lab to design and create vinyl stickers to distribute. Talking to Pride Fest attendees about the work we’re doing in youth advocacy was a lot of fun, and we were able to reach out to new, interested folks to tell them about amazing opportunities. We’re grateful for the opportunity to table at the Pride Festival, and we’re excited to see what comes from this event.
