Initializing an Alliance with the University of Turabo in Puerto Rico

Within the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, students are given the opportunity to use their Spring break as an opportunity for a week-long internship at a site of their choice.  While there are many different sites, this year two members of Mix IT Up! went to Puerto Rico with the grant’s P.I. Dr. Rae-Anne Montague.  Being exposed to the complexities of librarianship and archival work within a location heavily impacted by colonialism was eye opening.  The amazing work being done within our host organizations was inspirational, to say the least.  While on the trip, we created (and are continually updating) a blog documenting our experiences as guests of the University of Turabo.  Please feel free to check out the blog as we continue to update it!
